Amateur Catholic

We don't write books or do speaking tours.

-We're the B-Team of Catholic Bloggers-

This is the home of the Amateur Catholic® bloggers - or as we like to refer to ourselves, the B-team. We don't write books or do speaking tours. In fact, we barely do our jobs. That's not to say we're unambitious though... You see, this coalition is just the second phase our blogoshpere conquest. We suppose you could think of us as amateur crusaders too.

Membership will not bring you any money, perks, notoriety, or prestige - but you will get the privilege of proudly displaying the B-team badge on your blog! Lucky you, huh?

amateurcatholic @ gmail.com

If you are hosting a conference, parish function, or some other event and can not afford the exorbitant fees typically associated with a Professional Catholic®, please contact one of our members. We like to hear ourselves talk just as much as the Professional Catholics® do, we just don't charge you for it. But hey give us a meal, free beer, and a designated driver, and we'll speak about breaking the Da Vinci Code or anything else you might care to hear about.

The B-Team badge is copryright 2006, The B-Team Bloggers®. Of course, we're Amateur Catholics®, so if you use the badge without permission (enrolled membership), we won't hunt you down and make you cough up your hard-earned bucks. Just have fun with it and maybe buy us a beer next time you're in town.

Shameless Self-Promotion... Revisited

man with black hat: Playing Priest

I used to play priest as a boy. I had an altar in the living room, and I'd cover a set of books with a "chalice veil" made of a table napkin. My chasuble was a homemade quilt. Two pals next door from the local Church of Christ, who had no idea what was going on, were my altar boys. To this day, I see grown-ups playing priest all the time. No, not just on a boat on the river in Pittsburgh. They can be found in virtually every parish in America.

"They're called "communion ministers."

(Have I told this story before? Oh, who cares, it still works.)

M A H: Amateur Catholic

Hello noble knights of the B shaped table,

I'm no Mr.T but I am an amateur Catholic, hopefully a perfect fit for the B Team. My blog consists of ramblings and pictures, most of which orbit the grand sphere of catholicity. I reside in the lovely diocese of Lincoln, Nebraska; one of the refuges for traditionalism, and I'm glad to have come into the church here five years ago. Well I've run out of thoughts, I do that sometimes, so I guess: Yay Pope!!!

Thanks for your consideration,
M A H

P.S. this is my Blog: http://synaesthesiac.blogspot.com/
It's good to have you, welcome to the Holy Order of the B-Team! ;)

Jim Hahn: Amateur Catholic

I am writing to ask for admittance to the holy order of the B-Team. Unfortunately I don't meet all of the requirements perfectly. I have published a book on the Rosary. However, I self published it. I didn't even use a vanity press. I scrounged up the money and had a local guy print the book. I still have a box or two in the attic. That wasn't a plug, oh dear, this isn't going well. In addition, I do work for the Church as a director of religious education. I spoke at a Theology and A Pub program once but didn't go on a speaking tour. Oh my, this really isn't looking good. Still, I will hit the send key and God will decide. My blog www.jamesmhahn.blogspot.com is dedicated to Faith, Family and Fatherhood. Mainly it is short meditations on the Gospel of the day and a quote from a A+ team member (Saints). Thanks for the opportunity and the awesome list of blogs!
God Bless, Jim
Holy Order of the B-Team, eh? I like the sound of that. You are so in. Welcome aboard!

Steven McEvoy: Amateur Catholic

I was wondering about joining the b-team, I currently write book reviews for 4 different publications. I specialize in Christian and Catholic book reviews. My two blogs listed below overlap. The McEvoy's Musings is just the Catholic and Christian Reviews and the Book Reviews and More is all my published reviews and literary ramblings.

Chris from St Mary's: Amateur Catholic

Hello there,

I'm Catholic, I don't get paid for doing apostolate work and I just got a
blog.

I'm having more fun (and challenges because I'm an amateur blogger, too)
setting up my template than posting.

But it's there, so maybe you'll let me in. Maybe by then someone other than
me will have accessed the blog (but I just started it today -- Aug. 12).

And it's OK if you don't get back with me for a month or so ...

Thanks!

Welcome to the blogoshpere and the B-Team, Chris!

Rhapsody: Amateur Catholic

Dear Amateur Catholics,

I would like to join the B team, but am not sure that I am qualified.

I'm not much of a writer- and my readership consists mostly of a mermaid and a bunch of very well behaved [crickets].

Eagerly awaiting your reply!

I think you're perfectly qualified, kiddo. In fact, you forgot your url, but fortunately I recognized you from our mutual friend Dr. Thursday's so I was able to obtain it on my own. ;)

Don't worry ladies, you're not the first amateurs to have done that, nor will you be the last. Welcome to the B-Team!

Chris Harvey: Amateur Catholic

Please see if I qualify for membership.
Of course, I sully the good name "amatuer" with my meager postings, but I am having a good time reading, learning, and sharing.

Tracy Woodland: Amateur Catholic

I love the B Team Amateur Catholic blogger concept! That’s me, though I tend to ramble about family life as much as the Catholic Faith, because aren’t the two supposed to be inter connected?! As a homeshooling mom and wife who supports her dh’s crazy schedule, I have no brain left to say anything of much intelligence at the end of the day. I read spiritual books, faith building book Saint books, the CCC, daily scripture and daily Mass and Rosary, etc. but I just absorb and don’t have the energy to regurgitate and apply it in a coherent matter all of the time! OH and being stationed in the South and being a convert of only 4 years has presented some amazing apologetics opportunities (now if I was just up to the mission)! Once I am done evangelizing the Baptists and fundamentalists down here MAYBE I’ll have energy again (LOL!) It’s nice to read thoughts of amateur Catholics, it gives me hope that someday, after the kids are gone and I have time to think again, I might actually have something real to say. Until then, it’s amateur all the way! And forget about the blog being a wowser, for me to even upload the pics is about as techno geek as I get!

So can I play? Can I be one of the B Team Bloggers?

Thanks for the chance to be almost cool! God Bless,

Tracy

Yepp, you can play too, Tracy. Almost cool, huh? ;)

Tracy: Amateur Catholic

Well, my husband gets paid by the Church, but I don't! My blog is mostly homeschooling/unschooling, but our faith permeates everything. You can find my blog here:

I love the idea of the B-Team, and hope I qualify!

Thanks,
Tracy
Welcome Tracy to the idea that is the B-Team! ;)

Rob K: Amateur Catholic

Hello!
I have become aware of the B Team from visiting my favorite blogs. I have finally started blogging myself. I am a cradle Catholic, and have gone to church my whole life (not as consistently in college though). I am a fairly educated as a Catholic, in Catholic schools from pre-school through high school. I even went to the High School seminary. I have started blogging recently, and the purpose of my blog is to "share my thoughts, reflections, and images from my perspective. It is about life from a Roman Catholic perspective. I am not conservative, nor liberal. I am Catholic and that makes all the difference." I want to share this wonderful experience of Catholicism with others, and some pictures as well (right now, I am sharing images from the California Missions). I hope you let me in. :-)

My blog is Kyrie Eleison at http://www.kaiserfam.com/kyrieeleison.html

Nice to have ya, Rob. Welcome aboard!

The Kitchen Madonna: Amateur Catholic

can the kitchen madonna join?
As my third grade teacher would say, "I don't know, can she? She may join if she wishes." :) Welcome aboard Kitchen Madonna.
