Amateur Catholic

We don't write books or do speaking tours.

-We're the B-Team of Catholic Bloggers-

This is the home of the Amateur Catholic® bloggers - or as we like to refer to ourselves, the B-team. We don't write books or do speaking tours. In fact, we barely do our jobs. That's not to say we're unambitious though... You see, this coalition is just the second phase our blogoshpere conquest. We suppose you could think of us as amateur crusaders too.

Membership will not bring you any money, perks, notoriety, or prestige - but you will get the privilege of proudly displaying the B-team badge on your blog! Lucky you, huh?

If you are hosting a conference, parish function, or some other event and can not afford the exorbitant fees typically associated with a Professional Catholic®, please contact one of our members. We like to hear ourselves talk just as much as the Professional Catholics® do, we just don't charge you for it. But hey give us a meal, free beer, and a designated driver, and we'll speak about breaking the Da Vinci Code or anything else you might care to hear about.

The B-Team badge is copryright 2006, The B-Team Bloggers®. Of course, we're Amateur Catholics®, so if you use the badge without permission (enrolled membership), we won't hunt you down and make you cough up your hard-earned bucks. Just have fun with it and maybe buy us a beer next time you're in town.

The amateur's amateur!

Now here's an example of a solid amateur. Fellow B-Teamer Rebecca Taylor sent this in:
Dear Amateur Catholics,

I gave a talk at my parish last night on stem cells and cloning. It went pretty well for all 90 minutes. Afterward the coordinator of the adult educaton program asked me what my fee was. I said, "My fee?" She said, "Yes, your fee."

I stopped and thought to myself , "How could I possibly charge my parish for what I should be doing for free? And even more important, if I take a fee would that mean I couldn't be an Amateur Catholic anymore?" And so I answered, "I have no fee. Compensation is not necessary."

Can you beat that? She's charitable AND loyal to the team. What a gal! Thanks for sharing that with us, Rebecca.

WOW! That *is* dedication! I'm so impressed that I'm looking for something to do and not be paid for...

I would have asked for a letter of endorsement to take to other parishes and charge them fees!

Jen,

Hello? You are a mother! No need to look any further!

Paul,

Now why didn't I think of that? I'll remember that for next time...

Rebecca, you're right, that mother thing only pays in kisses, which are not legal tender...

The Church just sent me flowers. Isn't that nice? And it doesn't jeopardize my B-team status!

wouldn't pay from other churches jeopardize your status though?

*I have been throwing my "wet blanket" on everyone lately* :)
