Amateur Catholic

We don't write books or do speaking tours.
In fact, we barely do our jobs.
-We're the B-Team of Catholic Bloggers-

This is the home of the Amateur Catholic® bloggers - or as we like to refer to ourselves, the B-team. We don't write books or do speaking tours. In fact, we barely do our jobs. That's not to say we're unambitious though... You see, this coalition is just the second phase our blogoshpere conquest. We suppose you could think of us as amateur crusaders too.

Membership will not bring you any money, perks, notoriety, or prestige - but you will get the privilege of proudly displaying the B-team badge on your blog! Lucky you, huh?

amateurcatholic @ gmail.com

If you are hosting a conference, parish function, or some other event and can not afford the exorbitant fees typically associated with a Professional Catholic®, please contact one of our members. We like to hear ourselves talk just as much as the Professional Catholics® do, we just don't charge you for it. But hey give us a meal, free beer, and a designated driver, and we'll speak about breaking the Da Vinci Code or anything else you might care to hear about.

The B-Team badge is copryright 2006, The B-Team Bloggers®. Of course, we're Amateur Catholics®, so if you use the badge without permission (enrolled membership), we won't hunt you down and make you cough up your hard-earned bucks. Just have fun with it and maybe buy us a beer next time you're in town.

Rebecca T.: Amateur Catholic

Hi, my name is Rebecca
I am the poster child for the Amateur Catholic. I am not a theologian, I am not a bioethicist, I don't have a Ph.D. and I have to beg my parish to let me speak on stem cells and cloning. (In fact, when I told my Bishop about my website, I got a polite response that passed me off to my parish priest, who I am sure was instructed to discourage me at all cost!)
My only credentials are that I go to Mass on Sunday, I have a degree in Biochemistry and have a high speed Internet connection. It doesn't get more amateur than that.
Not only have I never been paid for my opinion, I think I am in the hole from the out of pocket expenses incurred trying to educate Catholics about the Brave New World. Even worse, I think if anyone at the "Catholic" hospital where I work in a molecular biology lab found out about my online amateur exploits, I would probably be fired!
But seriously, I am certainly not as funny as Jay or Rick, or as original as Julie, but on rare occasions I have a lucid moment and can hit one home. Being on the B-Team is a real honor and a big step up for me!
Thanks,
Rebecca
Editor note: Welcome Rebecca, we're happy to number you among us B-Teamers.

Yes, this despite the fact Der Tommissar and I were not mentioned once in your moving letter.

I hope you can make this up to us somehow.

God bless, Maureen

OK, nevermind...I just saw on your blog where you listed my blog as one you liked...along with some very intelligent-sounding, scientific ones. Anyway, that makes me look pretty good, so all is forgiven.

God bless, Maureen

Maureen- as I told Der Tommissar, I trying to look like I was not sucking up too much, but clearly that has backfired on me. So I amend my statement. It should have read: "But seriously, I am certainly not as funny as Jay, Rick and Maureen, or as original as Julie and Der Tommissar, but on rare occasions I have a lucid moment and can hit one home."

In case you are in doubt of how much I love your blog, just check out the meme I got tagged with last week! I hope that makes up for it!!!!!

LOL...No, ma'am...you didn't "forget" me in your e-mail. I'm copying the format directly from gmail...just now see what kind of goofy results I'm getting. I'll fix it. :)

rebecca, i remember you -- you helped me immensely with your sources for one of the papers i had to write for my college course. i never posted the paper because it was long & difficult to read with all of the citations, but i got an A.

(that still does not make me a professional writer, however, as no money was exchanged, lest i be booted from the team.)

welcome.

Okay, it just hit me that I know you *after* they posted pics of your darling Rebecca :)

No one ever accused me of being quick on the uptake.
