Amateur Catholic

We don't write books or do speaking tours.
In fact, we barely do our jobs.
-We're the B-Team of Catholic Bloggers-

This is the home of the Amateur Catholic® bloggers - or as we like to refer to ourselves, the B-team. We don't write books or do speaking tours. In fact, we barely do our jobs. That's not to say we're unambitious though... You see, this coalition is just the second phase our blogoshpere conquest. We suppose you could think of us as amateur crusaders too.

Membership will not bring you any money, perks, notoriety, or prestige - but you will get the privilege of proudly displaying the B-team badge on your blog! Lucky you, huh?

amateurcatholic @ gmail.com

If you are hosting a conference, parish function, or some other event and can not afford the exorbitant fees typically associated with a Professional Catholic®, please contact one of our members. We like to hear ourselves talk just as much as the Professional Catholics® do, we just don't charge you for it. But hey give us a meal, free beer, and a designated driver, and we'll speak about breaking the Da Vinci Code or anything else you might care to hear about.

The B-Team badge is copryright 2006, The B-Team Bloggers®. Of course, we're Amateur Catholics®, so if you use the badge without permission (enrolled membership), we won't hunt you down and make you cough up your hard-earned bucks. Just have fun with it and maybe buy us a beer next time you're in town.

Regular Paul: Amateur Catholic (for now)

Hello, I'm Paul, and I take myself far too seriously.

My handle is "Paul, just this guy, you know?" and I write Thoughts of a
Regular Guy
.

Although I don't want to be, I'm an amateur.

What I want is to be a professional. I want to be the white male
Michelle Malkin. I want to be another Rush Limbaugh.

I want to expound my wisdom to the adoring masses for them to soak it
up like sponges, and quote their favorite parts on their blogs, and
read my writing to their wives ("hey, honey, listen to this..."). I
want them to pray for their kids to grow up like me.

In the meantime, I blog so that my head won't explode.

Last year, after watching wall-to-wall coverage of MSM morons
pontificating their wrong-headed opinions of the Terri Schiavo case
for a solid month, and then another month taken up with the death of
Pope John Paul the Great and the election of Pope Benedict XVI and
more ignorant MSM commentary, I knew I needed to get a forum in which
I could express my opinion. And so my blog was born.

I'm nobody special. Not an actor, a clergyman, a military officer, an
attorney, a professor, a journalist, an elected official (nor the wife
of one), a diplomat, a millionaire, nor a paroled felon (which seem to
be the primary prerequisites to be a professional commentator in the
media today).

In Douglas Adams' Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, a
journalist reporting on the odd behavior of Galactic President Zaphod
Beeblebrox interview's the President's personal brain-care specialist,
who remarks: "Zaphod's just this guy. You know?"

That's me. Just this guy. You know? And I believe that my opinions
-- and probably yours -- are no less valuable, well-informed,
considered, reasoned than most of what passes for MSM commentary in the
chattering classes. I believe that the life I have led should be no
less considered "dues" than journalistic work, being the divorced wife
of a failed senate candidate, or a spotty career as a radio DJ.

I'm ready for my syndicated newspaper column, my radio talk show, my
cable interview show. And until then, I'm sure I couldn't be in
better company than those here on the B-Team.
Hey Paul, I can't say I'm not feeling a little hurt that you consider being a B-Teamer an unworthy aspiration, but alas, we have you firmly in our grasp for the time being anyway. Welcome aboard. :)

So terribly sorry, Captoe. Why couldn't I have said Gold Dust Woman, Rhinannon, or some other 'Stevie' song, huh? ;)

But, Paul, are you "just this guy" with two heads and three arms who has the gumption and (we're-not-quite-sure-but-perhaps-it's) stupidity to steal the latest in high-tech intergalactic cruisers?

Just curious. ;^) Even so, sounds good!

No, no, Meg, I'm not "just THAT guy"! He was pretty darn irregular.
